Hello, I’m Maddie,
I am an autistic developer who makes apps independently through Tanooki Studios. I build privacy focused software for Mac, iPhone, and desktop because I keep running into problems that should have simple, respectful solutions but somehow do not.
Most of my ideas start with frustration. I look for an app that does one specific thing, find something close, then discover it wants an account, collects more information than it needs, hides important settings, or turns a simple tool into a monthly subscription. So I make the app I was hoping to find.
I care about privacy because it should be normal. I care about clarity because software should not make people guess what it is doing. And I care about making useful things because a small app that solves a real problem is better than a giant app full of features nobody asked for.
My pricing is meant to be fair. I want people to be able to use my software regardless of their financial situation, not feel shut out because a useful tool costs too much. If you genuinely cannot afford something, write to me. I cannot promise every request will work out, but I will always see what I can do.
Tanooki Studios is just me, building things carefully, learning as I go, and releasing apps I would actually want on my own devices. The company has an LLC because my accountant insists I need one in case I eventually do something stupid. Frankly, that feels like responsible planning.
Let’s do something stupid, shall we?
