What This Site Knows About You

Almost nothing, and only if you type it in yourself.

Last updated 1 October 2026.

This page covers tanookistudios.com. The apps have their own privacy policies, which ship with them, and most of them collect nothing at all. The one exception is Couchy, whose policy is at the bottom of this page because it uses YouTube API Services, and those need a policy anyone can read on the web.

No Tracking

There are no analytics on this website. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Meta pixel, no advertising or attribution scripts, and no cookies set for tracking. Nothing on any page reports back that you visited it.

The site stores exactly one thing in your browser: if you use the light/dark toggle, your choice is saved in localStorage under ts-theme so the page doesn't forget it. It never leaves your device and it isn't a cookie. Clear your browser data and it's gone.

Fonts are served from this domain rather than from Google Fonts, so loading a page here does not tell a third party anything about you.

The Two Forms

If you use the contact form, the name, email address, topic, app and message you typed are stored. If you use the beta signup form, it stores your email address, your name if you gave one, which apps and platforms you ticked, and any note you wrote.

Both also record the time you submitted and a truncated browser user-agent string, which exists solely to help spot automated spam.

Telling You When Something Is Ready

The Tell Me When It's Ready form stores two things: your email address and the app you asked about. It also keeps a copy of the exact promise you agreed to at the time, so if I ever reword that page, what you actually consented to is still on record.

That address is used to send you updates about that one app, and to tell you when it is released. It is not the beta list, it is not a newsletter, and there is no way for it to become one — each row is tied to a single app, so there is nothing to broadcast to. It is never shared and never sold.

Every email carries an unsubscribe link, which takes one click and no confirmation page. You can also ask through the support page and the row is deleted that day.

No phone numbers are collected anywhere on this site.

Donations

If you use the tip jar, the payment is handled entirely by Stripe. I never see your card number, and nothing about the donation is stored on this site — not your name, not the amount, not your email address. There is no supporter list and no public credit page.

What It's Used For

  • Replying to you.
  • Inviting you to test the specific apps you asked to test.
  • Telling you when a build of one of those apps is ready.

That's the complete list. Your details are not sold, not rented, not shared with advertisers, not used to build a profile, and not added to any newsletter. There is no newsletter.

Where It Lives

Submissions are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and the site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, so Cloudflare processes this data on my behalf. A copy of each submission is also emailed to me so it can actually be answered; that email is delivered by Resend. Payments, if you make one, are processed by Stripe and never touch this site. Those three companies are the only third parties involved, and none of them is permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

How Long It Is Kept

Contact messages are kept for as long as the conversation is useful and deleted within two years. Beta signups are kept until you ask to come off the list, or until the app you signed up for is released and the testing program closes.

Getting Your Data Back Or Deleted

Use the contact form and pick Privacy or my data as the topic. You can request a copy of everything held about you, a correction, or complete deletion, and there's nothing to prove and no hoop to jump through. It's one person and a small database — this takes minutes, not weeks.

If you're in the UK, EU or a US state with its own privacy law, those rights are yours by statute as well. I apply them to everybody regardless of where you live, because having two tiers of privacy depending on someone's postcode is silly.

Children

This site isn't aimed at children and I don't knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted a form here, tell me through the contact form and it'll be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the previous version stays in the site's public git history.

Who To Contact

Tanooki Studios LLC, through the contact form. It reaches one person directly — there's no inbox rota and no ticketing system in between.

I deliberately don't publish an email address anywhere on this site. It isn't evasiveness: a plain address sitting in the footer of every page is harvested within days and then the real messages drown. The form goes to the same place.

Couchy

Couchy is a remote control for Apple TV on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. This section is its privacy policy. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and nothing about what you watch is sold or shared.

Your Apple TV and your home network

Couchy talks to your Apple TV directly over your own Wi-Fi to control it and to show what's playing. The pairing keys it creates stay in your device's Keychain; if you turn on Pair once, use on all my devices, they sync through your own iCloud Keychain, which Apple encrypts and I can't read. If you choose a Sonos speaker, Couchy talks to that directly on your network too.

If you use watch history, the list of what you watched is kept on your device only. It is never uploaded, and deleting Couchy deletes it.

Looking things up

To show app icons, Couchy asks Apple's App Store for the icon of an app by its identifier. For show details and posters it asks Wikipedia, sending only the title of what's playing.

YouTube

Couchy uses YouTube API Services to show the thumbnail of a YouTube video playing on your TV. By using that feature you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of the request is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

When a YouTube video plays that Couchy didn't open itself, Couchy (for Couchy Pro users) sends the video's title and channel name, as your TV reports them, to Couchy's server. The server asks the YouTube Data API for that channel and its recent videos, finds the matching video, and returns its ID and title. The thumbnail is then loaded directly from YouTube's image servers. That is the only YouTube data Couchy uses, and it is used only to draw the thumbnail.

  • What is stored: on your device only, which channel matched which name and which title matched which video ID, kept for at most 30 days and then deleted. The server stores nothing: no titles, no IDs, no logs of what you watched.
  • What is shared: the title and channel name go to Google's YouTube Data API, through Couchy's server, which runs on Cloudflare. Nothing else is shared with anyone.
  • Your Google account: Couchy never signs in to YouTube or Google and never asks for access to your account, so there is no account access to revoke. If you have ever granted any app access to your Google account, you can review it at Google's security settings page.
  • Cookies and device information: Couchy sets no cookies and sends no device identifiers with these requests.
  • Turning it off and deleting it: the lookup only runs with Couchy Pro; deleting Couchy removes everything it stored. You can also ask for deletion through the contact form, though there is nothing on the server to delete.

Purchases

Couchy Pro is bought through Apple. Couchy never sees your payment details.

Contact

Questions about Couchy's privacy go through the contact form with Privacy or my data as the topic, the same as everything else on this page.
