How I Work
What My Apps Look Like On The iPhone Duo
The iPhone Duo ships on 23 October. I started running my apps against the simulator. One looks great, one is inset and wrong, and one I could not test.

Half A Million Of You Looked Up A Kitchen
Eat Safely In Florida passed 500,000 visits three weeks after launch. What the number is, what it isn't, and what half a million strangers taught me.

I built a thing that tells you if the kitchen has flies in it
Eat Safely In Florida is live: every health inspection the state has done, in the inspectors' own words, free and ad-free. Why it exists, and what it does.
What ends up here
Not a great deal, and that is on purpose. I am one person building a dozen small things, and given a free evening I would rather fix a bug than write about having fixed it. So there is no schedule, no content calendar, and nothing here written to fill a slot.
A post happens when one of three things is true. Something shipped and is genuinely usable by somebody who is not me. Something broke in a way that turned out to be interesting — the kind of bug where the cause is nowhere near the symptom. Or I changed my mind about how something ought to work, and the reasoning is worth more than the decision.
When I do write, it is the long version. What the thing does, what it deliberately refuses to do, and why it is built the way it is rather than the obvious way. I would rather explain the reasoning once, properly, than post a cheerful announcement that tells you nothing you could act on.
Where else to look
If you would rather see the work than read about it, the apps page lists everything currently on the workbench — what it runs on, how far along it is, and which ones you can already use today. Nothing on it is a promise about a date.
If you want to be early, the beta crew gets builds before anyone else and a direct line to the person who has to fix them. If you are only waiting on one particular thing, every app on the workbench has its own notify link, and it will tell you about that one app and nothing else.
And if you have found a bug, raise a ticket. It comes straight to me, because there is nobody else for it to come to.
